Red light camera robbery

So it turns out that day light highway robbery is not limited to highways any more. We see it happening in the neck of the woods at our streets. Couple of my friends reported that they got ticket for red light violations on taking a right turn on the street. This is ridiculous, if there is any thing like "safer vehicle movement" that would be when you take a right turn. Both drivers and pedestrians have a good visibility to each other when a vehicle is turning right speed and in most cases speed of vehicle is around 5 miles/hr( provided you are not reckless).

So the rule is that :

1) vehicle needs to have full stop.
2) It should be before the white marked line, parallel to forward going vehicles.

Above process to me seems like a drama as visibilty in most intersection to see the traffic is almost zero to take a right turn so the vehicle will still need to do Californian stop( slow moving like pretending to stop) before driver can make a decision to turn.

Don't know what made me to write all this blurb but this is the only thought worth writing I have for today:)

If you leave around Fremont, CA you may want to look at following link to have an idea where the red light camera's are.

Google searches map

Alright now we have another offering from Google. If you ask a Google Exec why they want to do it , I am sure the answer will be " We wanted to get into next level of search by offering map searches". Is there is any application where search is not involved? Hey, I need to search what program is there is TV today, go for Video search . I need to search data on database, wait , this is another area for google labs folk to research on.

Talking about google labs, it seems like Google stock and innovation is attracting lots of Sun, BEA and FireFox SE's to join them. Joshua Bloch ( author of effective Java ) left sun to join google. Couple of Firefox developers joined them recently, Fire Fox lead developer and second developer.

If you want to get technical on Google maps , here is good blog to refer - Mapping Google.

Cheers

Proud India or Sheer arrogance ?

After reading the comments on the times of India article ( http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/984109.cms ) about refusal to accept foreign help for Tsunami, question comes into mind if this is the right step or just arrogance.

I am not sure at what level government is refusing the aid, is it just aid from other govt and/or from the charitable organizations like Red Cross ( which I believe is more foreign aid even though they have operation all over the world )? What is the point here? Is there something like, enough aid for a disaster like this. Can we quantify the requirement for the needed? I don't think so... do you?

I am hearing stories that needy survivors are still not getting critical supplies in India. Also SUN TV ( South Indian TV ) reported that there are cases where in private organizations ( not foreign )are not getting access into the devastated sites so that they can help. There was one story where in a survived infant died because it did not got food/attention.

I am not saying that external aid can necessarily solve all the problem or doubt about the competitiveness of our wonderful state or federal govt. But the point is that it sounds ridiculous to consider not accepting aid as a way to show we are stronger or test a nuke. I call it unncessary arrogance.

Microsoft releases spyware BETA

Well who else needs it more than microsoft browser - IE. IE IS the cause for the spy software spreading accross the internet like fire. Talking about fire , I think the best way to eliminate the spy is by switching to firefox.

Firefox is build groud up with spy software in mind. I have been using this browser for past 5 months, boy I can tell you that I will never go back to IE. Here are some, but I am sure there more which may care more than me.

1) Built in popup and spy software blocking
2) Faster IE, yeah I mean it
3) Tabbed browsing
5) Live bookmark
6) Better plug in support
7) AND ITS NOT BY MICROSOFT SO EXPECT A HUGE COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR PLUGINS !
